SILVER SWIMMER: THE STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL OF THE WILD ATLANTIC SALMON. By Richard Buck.

A CELEBRATION OF SALMON RIVERS. By John B. Ashton and Adrian Latimer.

2007 1st edition - Icelandic issue. Oblong folio (270 x 255mm). Pp237. Colour photographs by Randolph Ashton throughout, end-paper maps. Beige cloth, spine titled in black, blind-stamped salmon vignette on upper board.

A collection of essays on each of dozens of salmon rivers in Eastern Canada, Iceland, Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, Scandinavia, France, Spain and Russia. Each essay is contributed by a different angler who knows that water intimately. The final chapter discusses the restoration of the Penobscot, Rhine and Skjern. Contributors include some well-known anglers such as Adrian Latimer, Charles Bingham, Hoagy B. Carmichael, Michael Wigan and Max Hastings, as well as many others, less well-known but well worth reading. Proceeds from the sales of this book when new went to the North Atlantic Salmon Fund in support of their salmon conservation work. Foreword by HRH Prince Charles. Introduction by Orri Vigfusson. Printed in Denmark, published in the US by Stackpole Books, and in the UK by Merlin Unwin Books, this quickly sold out and has become very scarce and desirable.
