A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT. By Norman Maclean.
(1976) 1989 new UCP edition. 8vo (147 x 223mm). Ppiv,161,i. Illustrated with wood engravings by Barry Moser. Blind-stamped fly motif in metallic-red ruled border to two-tone cream paper-covered boards, metallic-red titles to grey spine.
A nice edition of Norman Maclean's famous novel of Presbyterian angst and flyfishing, with nice wood engravings by Barry Moser, "the foremost wood-engraver in America". This edition was reprinted from Moser's 1989 Pennyroyal Press edition, though in a smaller format. The publisher later (about 1992 and possibly to coincide with, or as a result of, the release of the film) reprinted the original 1976 version, which included two other short stories, but retained the 1989 ISBN. Those copies carrying this ISBN, but in blue dust-wrappers, from are 1992 or later, and are actually quite different from this edition.
