ANGLING BOOKS OF THE AMERICAS. By Henry P. Bruns. Assisted by Marian K. Bruns.

1975 1st edition. Large 4to (214 x 280mm). Ppx,542. Plain plates. Green cloth, spine titled in gilt.

This is a comprehensive listing of American angling literature up to the time of publication (1975). Many of the entries are very fully described and a lot of material has been packed in. Authors, editors and pseudonyms are cross-referenced. This is, as many of the best books are, the work of a well-informed enthusiast. Being from the era before the home computer, the text is set in two columns of partially justified monotype which, although no work of art, does make it clear and easy to read. Hats off to the typist who made so few mistakes in such an extensive, dense text. This is an object lesson to those, often professionals, who produce the thousands of computer spell-checked and shoddily edited books which flood the bookshops today. A scarce and useful work for the book collector.
