For publication in November 2024. Dressing Classic Atlantic Salmon Flies can be a life long journey for an enthusiastic fly dresser. Owing to their unique styles, rare and colorful materials, and ultimate techniques to dress them on japanned blind-eye hooks, interests and challenges will never end. Among all the classic patterns, a series of flies designed by Major John Popkin Traherne (1826-1901) stands out. However it's not quite clear how many patterns Major designed. This is author's quest to find Traherne patterns from classic to modern literature and his passion to dress and present them all together.
