(1872) ND (2nd edition, State 2. Still dated 1872 but actually 1902 or later). Small 8vo (135 x 190mm). Ppix,171. Four half-tone plates by Joseph Wolf, b/w vignette engravings. Dark green cloth, gilt angling scene to upper board, spine titled in gilt. State 2. The text appears the same as previous issues, and still carries the date 1872. The advertisements are omitted. The new half-tone plates no longer carry the acknowledgement to the artist. The spine has the word VAN-VOORST at the base.

"Amongst the volumes of my modest fishing library I have come to appreciate the ones with the 'real' fishing stories more than those which are mainly dealing with the theory and practice of fishing and fly-tying. I like a good story about fishing, especially when written by an experienced angler -and A. E. Knox was just that". (Henrik Strandgaard in his notes to the Flyfisher's Classic Library edition).
