BROOK AND RIVER TROUTING: A MANUAL OF MODERN NORTH COUNTRY METHODS. By Harfield H. Edmonds and Norman N. Lee. Smith Settle De luxe edition.

(1916) 2003 4th edition. Edition limited to 60 sets. Ppxiv,106. Colour plates of flies, tipped-in b/w photographs. Full goatskin, matching slipcase.

One of a de luxe edition limited to 60 sets, 50 numbered and 10 lettered. This is one of the numbered copies. The volume of text is a new printing of the 1997 Smith Settle facsimile edition, on high quality paper and with the sepia photographs tipped-in rather than printed. It has a subscribers list and a limitation page, and contains the new introduction by Leslie Magee. The second volume contains 36 specimen flies together with examples of the materials required to tie them, displayed in ten mounts. The flies were tied by Stuart Bowdin of Nelson, who has signed the limitation page. Both volumes are handsomely bound in full dark-brown goatskin, gilt-lettered and with raised bands, and presented in a buckram and leather slipcase. The 1997 edition mentions this de luxe edition as though it was produced in that year. However the flies were five years in the tying; hence the later date of this edition. The whole edition sold out before publication and is now very hard to find.
