COARSE FISHING IN IRELAND. By C.E.R. Sinclair, M.A. The Sports and Pastimes Library.

1947 1st paperback edition. Small 8vo (130 x 196mm). Pp108. b/w photograph plates, line drawings. Foreword by Stephen Gwynn.

Written at a time when roach and dace were found only in the Blackwater, leaving Ireland with just four major coarse species, namely pike, perch, bream and rudd. The author goes into particularly good detail on the pike fishing to be had. Chapters include: Of Ireland and its waters; Tackle - rods, reels and lines; Pike tackle; Tackle - miscellaneous items for coarse fish; The pike; Live-baiting for pike; The perch; The bream; The rudd; Where shall we go? The contents of this paperback edition are exactly the same as the first edition, and are possibly the same sheets. This may have been bound and released as late as 1962. The 1958 printing of Rollo's Fly Fishing has two different dust-wrappers. The earlier one (1958) lists Coarse Fishing In Ireland at 12s. 6d. The second dust-wrapper (1962) lists this title as paperbound at 3s. 6d.
