COLLINS ENCYCLOPEDIA OF FISHING IN BRITAIN AND IRELAND. Edited by Michael Prichard.

(1976) 1983 revised edition reprint. Large 4to (235 x 305mm). Pp256. Colour photographs, b/w and colour illustrations by Dietrich Burkel, pictorial end-papers. Green boards, spine titled in silver-gilt.

Reg Righyni contributed the section on salmon, trout and grayling fishing, Allen Edwards on coarse angling, Ivan Marks on match fishing, Michael Prichard on sea fishing afloat and John Holden on sea angling from the shore. A large and well-illustrated introduction to all kinds of angling in UK waters, with a very good freshwater and sea-fish identification guide. Appended are tying illustrations of some of the most commonly used knots and a glossary of angling terms. The first edition, titled Encyclopedia of Fishing in the British Isles, is clearly dated 1976, however, later reprints all state that the book was first published in 1977. It was revised and retitled in 1982 and included new sections on uptide boat-fishing techniques, pirking over wrecks and reefs and light tackle tactics, all by Michael Prichard, as well as a new piece on reservoir trouting.
