COLOURED FIGURES OF THE EGGS OF BRITISH BIRDS WITH DESCRIPTIVE NOTICES by Henry Seebohm. Edited (after the author's death) by R. Bowdler Sharpe.

1896 1st edition. 4to (180 x 260mm). Ppxxiv,304. B/w frontispiece portrait of the author, 60 chromolithograph plates of eggs. Red cloth, upper board and spine titled in gilt.

A very attractive book on the eggs of British birds including many that are only rare visitors. The author passed away on the 26th of November 1895 and so the book was then edited and completed by R. Bowdler Sharpe, assistant keeper, sub-department vertebrata at the British museum. The book is becoming quite scarce as many have been broken for their fine colour plates.
