DER KARPFEN: VERHALTENSWEISE UND SPORTLICHER FANG. By James A. Gibbinson.

" Aus dem Englischen uebertragen von Dr. Heinz-Guenther Jentsch und Horst Pilgrim". "The Carp: Its Behaviour and Sporting Capture, 2nd newly reworked and expanded edition". This is the second edition of the German translation of Gibbinson's 1968 book Carp, published in the Richard Walker Angling Library". The German angler will be astonished when he reads, for example, of refined rigs for baits, or carping at night and in winer, or even, how a specialist setting himself up in trees can detect and fish for carp from this vantage point. This book is educative, and not least, exciting, since which angler isn't keen on hearing about the struggles with giant carp of the most well-known British carp anglers. These are the reasons why I have profited, not only from reading, but from translating Gibbinson's book". H.G. Jentsch. Jentsch passed away after the publication of the first edition, and this second editionwas prepared by Hans Collas using new material translated by Horst Pilgrim: "J.A. Gibbinson has in recent years collected further important insights and experimented with new methods and techniques, and so this book has been reworked and extended, including especially the newly -written and illustrated chapters on special baits, particle baits, carping at long rang and carping in winter". The skeleton of the book is certainly that of the 1968 edition, but with new chapters inserted at intervals. There was no second edition of the Richard Walker Angling Library edition of Carp; whether Gibbinson's new material was ever published in English in a later book is an open question. You can let us know when you've read the book. Text in accessible German.
