This FFCL edition puts Keeper of the Stream and Nymphs and the Trout together in one volume with the special addition of the tribute to Frank Sawyer from Brigadier General H. E. Carey from his book One River. Keeper Of The Stream, Sawyer's first book, published in 1952, describes his early career as river keeper on the Officers' Association water on the Avon, in Wiltshire. It was on this water that Sawyer developed his nymph fishing tactics, later (1958) more fully described in Nymphs and the Trout. Wilson Stephens, Editor of The Field, predicted in 1969 when Nymphs and the Trout was about to be reprinted: "This second version of Nymphs andthe Trout will take its place beside the works of Halford, Skues, Dunne and Turing as one of the great illuminators of the most delicate of sporting arts, fly fishing." This is a fine double-volume memorial to a famous and very influential angler.
