FRESHWATER FISHING: TECHNIQUES and EQUIPMENT FOR GAME AND COARSE FISHING. Edited by Barrie Rickards.

(1991) 1995 1st English language edition. Large 4to (222 x 298mm). Pp224. Colour photographs throughout, colour illustrations. Laminated boards.

Billed as a general guide to game and coarse fish, the book actually concentrates solely on the predators (pike, perch, zander and black bass) along with salmon and trout. Great photographs and lots of good stuff on lures and lure fishing from a time when European anglers were way ahead of the UK on such techniques. "The contributors to Freshwater Fishing are all experts in catching a particular species of fish and have acquired their experience over many years of patient observation of its behaviour patterns and characteristics. The special techniques needed for catching pike, perch, freshwater bass, trout, salmon and zander or pike-perch are all carefully detailed and entertaining tales describe the various aspects involved in landing these most individual creatures." Contributions from Henri Limouzin, Pierre Affre, Jacques Chavanne, Yvan Drachkovitch, Gilbert Bordes and Don Ostler. Originally published in France in 1991, this is a copy of the 1995 first English language edition, translated by Simon Knight and David Kennard and edited by Barrie Rickards.
