There is no author's name on the title page, but the preface is signed "J.F. Hampton". A highly regarded work on pike and pike fishing. Much information on baits and methods of the era as well as a chapter on the life history of the species. A list of pike records both rod-caught and netted adds historical interest. Pike recipes are included as well as "Mona's Scale", a weight-for-length chart still used today.
