CLASSIC SALMON FLIES: HISTORY and PATTERNS. By Mikael Frodin.

HOW TO DRESS SALMON FLIES: A HANDBOOK FOR AMATEURS. By T.E. Pryce-Tannatt. Third Edition. With an appreciation of the author by T. Donald Overfield and additional material on modern salmon flies by John Veniard and Freddie Riley. Drawings by Donald Downs.

(1914) 1991 3rd edition reprint. Small 8vo (135 x 201mm). Ppxxii,289. Illustrated as the earlier editions with 8 colour plates of Pryce-Tannatt's flies and line drawings by St. Barbe Goldsmith, plus 5 new colour plates of flies tied by Freddie Riley and photographed Terry Griffiths and Ben Johnson, and new line drawings by Donald Downs. Green boards, spine titled in gilt.

This was the last reprint, done for the American market. Dr T. E. Pryce-Tannatt was an amateur who never had any instruction in fly-dressing. Nevertheless he produced "the most notable book to date on the subject since Kelson. Indispensable to the learner; his flies are distinguished by their beauty and finish and his descriptions are lucid." Robb, Notable Angling Literature [1947]. How to Dress Salmon Flies: A Handbook for Amateurs is a scarce book and an indispensable reference for the fly-dresser.
