The author was a well-known gardener, poultry farmer and writer who lived near Conwy in North Wales*. This hardcover issue is seen in two variant bindings. Binding A - Green cloth, gilt titles and silhouette of angler on upper board, spine titled in gilt in lower case with "beautiful" on one line, yapp fore-edge, colour plates of trout flies (by Hardy Brothers) as front and rear end-papers. Binding B - Green cloth, gilt titles and silhouette of angler on upper board, spine titled in gilt in upper case with "beauti-ful" on two lines, yapp fore-edge, plain white end-papers. This is a copy of binding A. This book has inserted the previous owner's 1959 Licence to Fish, issued by the Gwynedd River Board.
