MAINLY ABOUT FISHING. By Arthur Ransome. Flyfisher's Classic Library de luxe edition.
(1959) 1994 FFCL edition - de luxe issue. 8vo (160 x 240mm). Ppxx,159. Colour plate of flies and b/w illustrations, gilt edges, marbled end-papers, silk marker. Full brown leather, spine titled in gilt, marbled end-papers, silk marker ribbon, in a brown cloth clam-shell box. Edition limited to 55 copies, each incorporating an Elver Fly inset into mount inside front board, tied by Annie Douglas.
A very attractive edition of Ransome's scarce book of angling essays containing observations on fishing and fly-dressing, with chapters on Victorian and earlier fly-dressers. A chapter also deals with his famous Blue Elver fly, an example of which, tied by Annie Douglas, is mounted in a window inside the front board and protected by a tissue guard. This is one of 55 deluxe copies, handsomely bound in chestnut goatskin with gilt edges, raised bands, hand-marbled end-papers and silk marker, in a silk-lined clamshell box. There is also a standard Flyfisher's Classic library edition available.
