MAMMOTH PIKE 2004 - 13. By Neville Fickling. Standard hardback edition limited to 600 copies.
2013 1st edition. 4to (190 x 244mm). Pp180. Colour photographs, illustrations. Green cloth, spine titled in gilt. Edition limited to 600 copies.
Following on from where the author's previous book, Mammoth Pike, left off. This new book lists all known pike greater than 35lbs in weight to have been caught between 2004 (when the previous book was published) and 2013. It also has listings for 35lb+ pike not caught on rod and line or captor unknown along with the somewhat controversial "surely some mistake" and "I need better scales" sections. Each entry has full details where known of captor and capture often with their own comments along with those of the author. The vast majority are accompanied by a good colour photograph. The final parts of the book give an analysis on the best venues to catch mammoth pike along with general observations on the past decade and what the future may hold. A valuable addition to the pike angling literature and especially interesting when read in conjunction with the author's previous book along with Fred Buller's Domesday Book of Mammoth Pike (1979) and More Mammoth Pike (2005). Designed and produced by Stephen Harper who also wrote the foreword.
