MOONLIGHTING: TALES AND MISADVENTURES OF A WORKING LIFE WITH EELS. By Michael Brown.
2011 1st edition. 8vo (162 x 241mm). Pp255 + 1pp ads. B/w vignette illustrations by the author. Black boards, spine titled in silver-gilt.
Michael Brown began his working life with ICI's marketing department in London. Restlessness and sheer accident took him to Somerset where he fished for eels for a (pretty thin) living. Founding the firm of Brown & Forrest, elvers became his speciality, selling them on for stocking inland waters on the continent. This was accompanied in time by eel smoking and ultimately a restaurant. An interesting addition to the literature of both the eel and the life of the English countryside.
