NOTES AND RECOLLECTIONS OF AN ANGLER: RAMBLES AMONG THE MOUNTAINS, VALLEYS AND SOLITUDES OF WALES. With sketches of some of the lakes, streams, mountains and scenic attractions in both divisions of the principality. By John Henry Cliffe. Second edition.

(1860) 1870 2nd edition. 12mo (120 x 190mm). Ppxii,254,ii. Brown cloth with gilt design of fish and tackle on upper board, spine titled in gilt.

Cliffe describes, from his own experiences, the fishing in the lakes and streams of North and Mid-Wales, with much detail on Talyllyn, Bugeilyn, the Talybont and Cader lakes, Ardudwy and all of Snowdonia, with three short chapters on the Teifi and the Teifi Pools. This is still a valuable and practical guide to the mountain lakes. The contents of the second edition are identical in every respect to those of the first. The second edition was issued in four different coloured cloth bindings (mid-green, dark green, dark blue and brown), each with the same design.
