In 1980 Righyni began a series of articles in the Newsletter of the Grayling Society. Entitled "Collecting grayling rivers", his intention was to seek out and to fish as many as possible of the rivers, streams, becks and burns in which grayling might be caught throughout England, Scotland and Wales. In all, ten articles appeared before his death in 1987.
