Skues on 9th August 1949, a series of fly-tying articles which had originally appeared in the Fishing Gazette were published under the title, Silk, Fur and Feather: The Trout-Fly Dresser's Year, by "V.C". - the initials of Skues' pen name "Val Conson." This first edition just gives the author as "V.C."
