This is a detailed manual of tanning, aimed at those intending to take up the craft commercially. A large portion of the book is devoted to planning and setting up a tannery. Three specimen operations are described, a two-hide a day tannery, a twenty-hide a day tannery and a two-hundred hide a day tannery. This book was produced on a grant from the UK's Ministry of Overseas Development administered through the Intermediate Technology Group, for publication jointly by the International Labour Office and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, and endorsed by the World Employment Programme. And it's still film-set from a typed manuscript. A useful book, nevertheless.
