"Traite de Pisciculture was first published in 1952. It was concerned principally with the breeding and rearing of salmonids, cyprinids, a few special forms of fish breeding in the temperate regions of Europe and culture of tilapias then developing in Central Africa. It sold out rapidly and was republished in 1953. The third edition published in 1960 was brought up to date particularly with regard to fish breeding in Africa. The present fourth edition, now translated into English and published under the title of 'Textbook of Fish Culture - Breeding and Cultivation of Fish', has been entirely and completely revised and considerably enlarged. Instead of being devoted mainly to fish breeding in temperate climates, it also discusses the principal types of fish culture practised in both fresh and brackish water all over the world. It includes the rearing of more than 100 different species of fish."
