There are a number of differences between this and the 1922 fifth edition: The title-page is not dated; The Preface now omits the author's address, and the date; Each "Division" now includes its own half-title and title-page, and its own index; Each "Division" is in consequence, dated, and the title-page-verso of Division I includes a publishing history.

"John Bickerdyke" was the pen-name of Charles Henry Cook. The separate parts of this book have been frequently reprinted as separate volumes. They are "Angling for coarse fish," "Angling for pike," "Angling for game fish," and "Angling in salt water."
