Light green gilt-decorated pictorial cloth, in series with other Upcott Gill sporting books, with a patterned border on the left showing game-birds, animals and fish, and a gilt image of two anglers in a boat in the main panel.

"John Bickerdyke" was the pen-name of Charles Henry Cook. The separate parts of this book have been frequently reprinted as separate volumes. They are "Angling for coarse fish", "Angling for pike", "Angling for game fish", and "Angling in salt water". "With over 220 engravings". This edition not dated but, chronologically, is the third issue seen. In this edition the section on pike fishing has been enlarged to include "The Late Lord Inverurie's Big Pike List," and has two extra engraved plates and three new plates from photographs. Although unstated in the book, this is a title in Upcott Gill's sporting series, issued in matching pictorial green cloth.
