Harry Morritt was born at Rokeby Park near Barnard Castle, where the river Greta meets the Tees. This book begins and ends there, but in between are episodes on the Crocodile River (during the Boer War), the river Lee in County Cork, the Dyfi in Wales (where he lived first at Esgair, and then at Llwyngwern on the Dulas North for ten years from 1906), the Welsh Dee at Chirk Castle, and holidays in Kenya, Norway and Iceland. Includes flyfishing for bass at Tonfanau and mackerel in the Dyfi estuary.
