A detailed manual of insctructions and advice covereing all aspects of sporting shooting as practised in the middle of the nineteenth century. This book was subsequently revised and enlarged to keep up with developments in gun design, and stayed in print for many decades thereafter. The first four editions are notably scarcer than subsequent editions.
