The author, "who was born in 1860, began his diary as a schoolboy when he recorded the capture of sixteen sticklebacks and a minnow ("I ate minnow") and made his last entry only a few days before his death in 1935." A detailed and entrancing diary, mostly referring to trout and salmon fishing on Scottish lochs and rivers.
