THE OXENHOLME HOUNDS: WHEN, WHERE AND HOW THEY HUNTED - SEASON 1934-5. THE ILLUSTRATED DIARY OF HERMIONE DREW.
2009 1st edition. Large 8vo (175 x 254mm). Pp112. Colour facsimile of an illustrated diary with explanatory text and contemporary photographs. Black boards, spine titled in gilt.
A very attractive facsimile of a colour illustrated diary of a season with the now-defunct Oxenholme Hounds who largely hunted the carted stag in Cumbria and Lancashire. The author of the diary, Hermione Drew, possibly in her teens at the time, lived at Leasgill, Heversham, a village near Kendal in Cumbria. Also included are the texts of "The Oxenholme Hunt" by "C.J.C." (1902), and "The Lunesdale and Oxenholme Staghounds" by William Scarth-Dixon (1923), as well as several pages of contemporary photographs.
