This is a nice facsimile reprint of the 1898 first edition, with a series foreword by the Duke of Westminster and a sixteen-page introductory essay by Dr. Mike Swan of the Game Conservancy's Advisory Service. Chapters include: Natural history of the rabbit; The warren; Ferreting; Shooting; Trapping, snaring, netting and bolting; Poaching, The Ground Game Act; Rabbit-hawking with the goshawk; The cookery of the rabbit. This series of monographs by the most experienced sportsmen of the day are still of immense value as the most detailed and comprehensive works ever published on British game species. The series was renamed "The Fur, Feather and Fin Series" part way through publication when it was decided to include the volumes, Salmon, Trout, and, Pike and Perch. This is Volume 3 of the 12 volume "Game Conservancy Edition" of the New Fur, Feather and Fin series. Edition limited to 500 numbered sets. Out-of-series, un-numbered copies of each title were issued singly, this is one of those single copies.
