THE VALE OF TOWY. By Lawrence C. Hill.
1947 1st edition. 8vo (145 x 215mm). Pp98. B/w photographs by Dr. S.T. Steward and Eric Hoskings. Brown cloth, spine titled in silver. Dust-wrapper B. White background with b/w photograph and black printing.
The author takes a Canadian friend, rod in hand, to explore the valley of the Towy (Tywi). Much angling and illustrated with good natural history photographs. Good essays on the natural history of the Towy and its sea-trout fishing*. This book is almost always disfigured by the adhesive dust-wrapper being stuck to the cloth. Most copies seen are in this condition, and as the dust-wrapper flaps are not usually stuck down it seems likely that this was a deliberate and misguided attempt at lamination.
