1834 1st edition. 12mo (114 x 180mm). Ppxx,223,i + 12pp ads. Titlle-page engraving. Dark green moire cloth, paper spine-label titled in black.

Beginning with a description of the various kinds of fish to be found in Wales and the rules and principles concerning their capture, Hansard then lists the natural flies "peculiar to the Welsh rivers, with the best mode of imitating them." The main body of the book is then made up of a "Description of the most celebrated angling stations in North and South Wales" covering all of the principal rivers and lakes of the country. A great read for anyone with an interest in angling in Wales; the lakes and rivers have changed little though the fish may now be smaller and less numerous. "...a perfect gazetteer of every lake and stream in the Principality, at once so ample and so accurate that I suspect the author must have been several years engaged in the Ordnance Survey. ...No angler should go into Wales without taking Mr. Hansard's book in his pocket." (Chatto).
