TROUT IN NEW ZEALAND: WHERE TO GO AND HOW TO CATCH THEM. By W.H. Spackman, B.A., President of the Canterbury Anglers' Society, and Counsel to the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society.

1892 1st edition. 8vo (137 x 210mm). Ppii,99. Two b/w plates of trout, folding plate, LACKING large folding map at rear. Blue cloth-covered boards, titled in gilt on upper board.

The first New Zealand book on trout fishing to be published in that country. Discusses the introduction and acclimatisation of trout in New Zealand as well as angling methods and locations". The book devotes only 9 pages to the North Island and some 50 pages to the South. The book is short on illustration: a single folded plan of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society's ponds at Masterton and a couple of plates of sketches of Otago trout are the only support for the large folding map 'shewing' the trout streams of North and Middle (South) Islands".
